The new location is correct. This lets /var/log/slimserver be owned by
slimserver, which lets it create its own log files without running as
root.

Slimserver failed to connect toits own MySQL instance... Which is
probably related to the migration comment above. Did you configure a
prior version of SlimServer to use MySQL?
The last part looks like it was able to bring up MySQL and actually
looks correct.
