I'm up and running as well. I'm currently using the AMD64 Desktop version (couldn't get SS to install on the AMD64 Server version for some unknown reason), but I'm thinking of reimaging with the i386 Desktop version. I haven't found a way to call up a remote Gnome session after reboot if the server is headless (I can SSH in and run CLI terminal sessions, but I have to admit I like the option of running Synaptic and other GUI utilities). I've tried VNC solutions like TightVNC, but to no avail. Apparently, nxserver will let me init a Gnome session, but it doesn't have a Debian AMD64 version, only i386 (there are workarounds, but may have unintended consequences).
If any Linux/Ubuntu gurus have any ideas on how to set up a Gnome session on a headless box after reboot (where root is the only account working), I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll go to i386 and try that. One benefit, I guess: it'll let me do some benchmarking on library scans/rebuilds to see whether SS performs differently under the two Ubuntu builds. -- Balthazar_B ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Balthazar_B's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7366 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34722 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
