The distribution is a Ubuntu/7.04/Feisty-Fawn i386, running 2.6.21.1
kernel.

mplayer with this distribution is 1.0~rc1-0ubuntu9.

slimserver is 6.5.2 from the slimdevices debian archive.

AlienBBC is also latest release at v1.06_6.5 and installed per the
instructions
from http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/installation.html#linux.

The non-AlienBBC functions of slimserver are working as expected. I
can also
play wma and other non-opensource media links. I use amarok as my
player and
it works great linking up with the slimserver and using the firefox
foxytunes
web interface. All is good except for realaudio and AlienBBC.

The AlienBBC plugin shows up on the slimserver plugin list. I can
configure it
as needed. I can also enable the RTSP in the server settings->file
types->
file format conversion setup, and I can see that mplayer.sh is set to
play
the real audio file type. mplayer.sh file permissions allow user
slimserver to
play both mplayer and mplayer.sh and both are in the path.

When I try to play an AlienBBC link, it shows up on the right-hand side
of the
server web page in the playlist and player. But the player status
remains at "stopped"
instead of showing "play" as a normal playing link. And of course, no
sound is
coming out (which is the problem).

My favorite realaudio link is WUOT from the UTK campus in Knoxville,
TN.

rtsp://160.36.178.159:554/broadcast/wuot.rm?cloakport=8080,554,7070

I can play it with mplayer, mplayer.sh, directly from the
console, and realplay and amarok from their gui. So, I know that
mplayer is working correctly
standalone; so why not through AlienBBC and slimserver ?

The only clue I can find of what is wrong is in the
/var/log/slimserver/slimserver.log
file which shows error messages similar to what is shown below
each time I try to play something through AlienBBC:

2007-05-05 22:29:27.7809 Use of uninitialized value in string ne at
/usr/share/perl5/Slim/Music/Info.pm line 237.

2007-05-05 22:29:39.3786 Use of uninitialized value in sprintf at
/usr/share/perl5/Slim/Player/Playlist.pm line 740.

This implies some type of perl error which is where I then get lost as
to how to fix.

I don't even know if perl is the problem or not, but I would like to
get some help now
in trying to get this working. realaudio is the only thing I still
can't play with
slimserver. The oddest part of it all is that it plays fine through
the squeezebox when
clicked through the slimserver web interface. I just cannot get it to
play through the
computer or serve out to other computers.
