I am planning to upgrade from 6.51 to 6.5.2 to get rid of the annoying Firmware issues with Squeezenetwork. This is my first time upgrading on Ubuntu so I wanted to see if anyone had advice as to how to do this without screwing up my current configuration. If I upgrade to 6.5.2 will it overwrite my current configuration? I am running Ubuntu 6.10 server.
It depends partially on how you installed it in the first place. If you used the slimdevices repository in your sources.list, then your upgrade should be very painless. You can try just using dpkg -i to install the .deb directly, or update your sources.list to the testing repository rather than stable. Another option for you is to simply hack your 6.5.1 configuration to eliminate the forced firmware downgrade. This is a one-line edit, and if you are happy with 6.5.1 in all other respects I would consider giving that a shot. Ben
