Have you tried running slimserver with some debugging options like d_source?
It seems odd that the server is complaining about the file, when it should just be sending it to the SB3. What happens if you try disabling "(built-in)" for ogg, in order to force the server to transcode to FLAC? Also, are you able to listen to those files with softsqueeze or using http://server:9000/stream.mp3 ?
