mgh >>> I migrated to Linux recently - largely as a result of discovering about Open Source from SlimServer, and experiencing the amazingly generous support the SS community provides, in the best traditions of FOSS. I now rarely use that other operating system. Mark Lanctot;205359 Wrote: > Actually I find that SS is more native to Linux than it is to Windows. > Have you compared rescanning times? Mark >>> Yes, that's been my experience too - SS relates more much more naturally to GNU/Linux, and, as you say, seems to run much faster. (But then, quite a lot of things run much faster, as I've discovered from the startup time for my laptop since I installed Ubuntu on it! No longer any need to go off and make coffee like I used to when waiting for XP to start!) After twenty years of using MSdos/Windows, (punctuated by a brief and exasperating trial of RedtHat8, which I quickly abandoned) discovering Ubuntu has been a real eye-opener. -- Diana -- Diana ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Diana's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7463 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35683 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
