michael, i'm aware of the skin for the N770/N800. the whole point of my question is that i'm not eager to hack my NAS (linkstation live) to put slimserver there. just poke around here and on the linkstation wiki threads - you'll find loads of pleas for help unbricking, restoring, and otherwise fixing NASs that went south after being modded/hacked.
so i either have to run slimserver on my pc, which for all the reasons hashed over elsewhere is not ideal, or find something else, like a dedicated server that's quiet, low power, small, etc. lots of traffic around here discussing mini-itx boxes for this purpose. anyway it occurred to me that since the N800 is a small, quiet, low power linux box, why couldn't you run slimserver there? no relying on a buggy crash-prone pc, slimserver is up all the time, and i get a fine remote to boot. the music is all on the NAS, and i don't have to mess with it. -- rov ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rov's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10787 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35924 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
