The NSLU2 ipkg for mysqld on a small system usually has 4 threads.  It
looks like you have two instances of mysqld running.

Slimserver starts a mysqld server and I'm guessing that you already
have a mysqld daemon running for other services such as a web server.

So you could configure slimserver to use the system mysqld and that way
there will only be one daemon (with 4 threads) running.
