I thought I'd use an old PC to make a slim server appliance but it's only optical drive is a DVD reader. This works fine as a boot CD when installing windows but the CD image I burned on a CD won't boot. It starts booting but then says something about not finding the file system and drops to a "limited" shell.
I'm a total linux noob as you can tell. I've been browsing for weeks trying to get a handle on the basic linux concepts but I fear i missed something obvious, like you can't boot a CD from a DVD drive. Do I have to burn the ISO file to a DVD to get this to work?
