XMMS should be told to open http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3

Do that first. You should get a generic welcome-to-slimserver sort of
thing scrolling across the title display.

(Change 'localhost' to the IP of your machine if you are using a
different machine to playback, of course.)

Then go to the web interface and choose songs to play With only one
player attached you won't have to choose which player. so don't worry
about that.

Of course, for somewhat better control, look under Help on the web page
for SoftSqueeze.. .it will be much better than XMMS, since it can handle
slimproto and knows when a track has changed, so there is less "stale
buffer" sorts of issues. (There is no way to tell XMMS "hey, I dont
want this track any more, please dump your buffer" .. you just have to
wait it out.)

And of course, for better control, use a hardware player, ie Squeezebox
or Transporter.
Softsqueeze is a fun toy, but a SB has better sound and you can play
music from your couch without going near the server.
