You are on the right track. When you point to the dyndns address it shows that you are correctly hitting your external ip address, which at this stage is your router, and hence it brings up the router config login. What you need to do next is to have the router forward the ports 9000 and 3483 to the actual PC on which SlimServer is running so that the traffic gets beyond the router to the right end point. I have only ever done this with Linksys where it is pretty straightforward once you know where to look for the settings page - the fairly obscure "Applications and Gaming". I'm sure it is different for other brands and I have no idea how they might be configured for this. Basically you find the page for Port Forwarding and use this to pointy to the local ip address of the server machine (something like 192.168.xxx.xxx).
As always, be aware that this is not a secure setup, with anybody able to get to your SlimServer if they can learn, or guess, your server name. As you are posting on the Linux forum I presume you are running some form of Linux OS which makes it fairly easy to set up a more secure configuration using SSH. davep -- davep ------------------------------------------------------------------------ davep's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42154 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
