That's a bit of a tricky situation. You can actually mount samba shares in linux like regular filesystems by loading the smbfs and/or cifs modules. modprobe smbfs modprobe cifs You could then add them to /etc/fstab, do not forget to make mountpoints for it... here's a line based on my fstab as an example (using cifs). //WORKGROUP/share /mnt/share cifs credentials=/root/.smbpasswd,uid=whoever,gid=users,username=whoever Replace "whoever" with the username you are using for your windows network. Note that the samba password resides in a separate file, /root/.smbpasswd It has just one line in it. password=asdfgh Then... you can just mount the share using the following example mount /mnt/share Of course you would give it the appropriate names for your own network and call the mountpoint whatever you think suitable. Then enter the mountpoint (/mnt/share) in squeezecenter/slimserver et voila. Should be working fine just as it does over here. Doesn't matter wether the samba share is from a windows XP box or another linux machine. There is a downside however. If the windows machine is not up, you cannot mount it. So beware what you do if you want to mount automatically on startup. Also umount the share before taking your windows box down. Nasty if you crash it too... In my case it is running on a linux server which is on 24/7 so it does not really matter Gr.
