I never ran into that particular error. I ran Mandriva for years as my SlimServer, and setup was always a-typically hard.
You should be able to use MCC to remove slimserver. But there is a ton of stuff that requires perl, so removing perl may be infeasible. The initial versions of Mandriva (back when it was Mandrake) were eazy, but each release seemed to leave out more things, and make it harder. It took a while for me to realise that you had to install lots of development tools to get it to work. About six months ago, I started moving my desktops to Ubuntu, and even bought a laptop with Ubuntu pre-installed. For my servers, I'm using pure debian, since Ubuntu and many more are Debian-based. I like the pure set up for servers as it skips all the eyecandy that Ubuntu has. For most of my servers, the video card is way too lame to run any eyecandy. Debian's apt-get works as powerfully as urpmi and Synaptic is a nice GUI at least as nice as MCC's GUI for installing packages and their required prerequisites. Have you considered switching? The debian 'net install' is a quick CD to download and start with, it installs all the packages from the 'net, much like Mandriva. -- pfarrell Pat http://www.pfarrell.com/music/slimserver/slimsoftware.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pfarrell's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=200 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42151 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
