I've been researching this very question (which file system), as I will
be adding a 1TB drive to the new linux system which should arrive any
day now.  So far, I'm leaning to ext3 with the following tweaks:

1. Inode size 256 bytes (for easy migration to ext4)
2. Less inodes than default (since the files will be large)
3. Less root reservation (since this drive will be for music)

Since the music files are mostly read-only, I don't expect
fragmentation to be a big problem.  Ext3 is rock solid, and I'll
eventually move to ext4, after it has some time out in the real world. 
I guess what I like best is the upgrade path of the extX route.  IMHO,
Microsoft sucks, so far as easy upgrade paths.
