No, I have not changed any of the slimserver file type settings in
either environment. I have purchased one Amazon MP3 album and I can
easily tell the difference between the sound of an mp3 file and a flac
file through my Monica3 dac. I use flac for 99.9% of my collection.

The difference I was hearing was subtle. I was wondering if maybe there
was a technical reason. Maybe linux has a more efficient lan protocol
stack than windows and that might lead to fewer packet retransmissions
or something like that.

I am a programmer and not a network specialist and I thought someone
here might be familiar with the differences between the two
environments.
