I've had a very similar problem with my flac2ogg script (not any relation to Robin's flac2mp3 script) where some music has strange characters ($,&,%,etc.) which caused weird results. I ended up substituting (s///g) with escapes a whole bunch of characters so that it would run through my whole library without choking or failing.
