I've experienced problems when installing the Slimserver .rpm package on my system, which runs Fedora 8 from x86_64.
I had installed all the requisite Perl rpm packages beforehand, but received the following error message when I ran the script Slimserver.pl: "The following modules failed to load: YAML::Syck To download and compile them, please run: /usr/local/slimserver/Bin/build-perl-modules.pl YAML::Syck" Note that I had already installed the rpm package "perl-YAML-Syck" (x86_64). I still ran the above-mentioned script, only to get the following compilation error: "BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at inc/Module/Install/Makefile.pm line 5. Compilation failed in require at inc/Module/Install.pm line 219. Can't locate ExtUtils/MakeMaker.pm in @INC (@INC contains: inc . /usr/local/slimserver/CPAN /usr/lib64/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib64/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib64/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib64/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.7/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8) at inc/Module/Install/Can.pm line 9." I'm pretty much stuck at this point, and wonder whether the slimserver rpm and install scripts are really looking at the right library directory (lib or lib64). Is the Slimserver package optimized for an i386 installation ? Or are there any other Perl modules I should install ? Any feedback and advice are welcome. Thanks in advance. -- blackswan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ blackswan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5497 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43802 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
