This is pretty much exactly the situation I was in several months ago. I went with Ubuntu and it has been a painless, nay, enjoyable experience. The only slightly frustrating period was trying to set up network access between it and a WinXP box - although I've had just as much trouble trying to do the same thing between two XP boxes, so it's more likely to be XP or my networking skills at fault, than anything lacking in Ubuntu ;) As a further endorsement, I impulsively decided to upgrade to Gutsy Gibbon last weekend (from Feisty). This proceeded as follows: 1. Clicked on 'update' icon, confirmed that I wanted to install all currently outstanding updates 2. Waited a bit 3. It was done. 4. Clicked on 'update' icon again, then clicked where it said 'A new version of the OS is available, click here to install' 5. Waited a bit 6. Rebooted 7. It was done. At the risk of tempting fate - no problems, easy as you like, and Squeezeboxes back up and running happily straight away.
