I hear you about the IT staff. The IT people at school shuddered when I told them I set my laptop up to dual boot windoze and Kubuntu. I guess you can't blame them- their income depends on M$ products being buggy and unreliable. I've had exactly zero problems with Kubuntu and many unresolved issues with win XP Pro that is being "maintained" by the IT dept.
