Argh, I'm having a similar issue now under Ubuntu 8.04. Using
Squeezecenter version 7.0.1~18409.

I've added both the slimserver user and the mysql user to the plugdev
group, but upon starting Squeezecenter for the first time and selecting
my music folder, it doesn't list the sd* entries. I can see all the
other folders though. And the musik softlink shows up as empty... Any
ideas? :(
