You can also use a directory to mount the extra drive:

mount /dev/hdc1  /wherevermusicgoes
mkdir /wherevermusicgoes/otherdrive
mount /dev/hdd1  /wherevermusicgoes/otherdrive

This would make the new drive appear as a directory on the old drive.

Again, if it doesn't work, check permissions to make sure they are
readable.  Whether you use mount points or symlinks, it should work
fine.  Which you use is really personal preference.
