Hi Fletch and Pat, Sadly, I didn't record the issues I encountered with the RPM upgrade, so I can't be that specific about that experience. That was quite some time ago. I was curious about the upgrade for some reason, spent too much of an afternoon trying to get it working and laid it aside. Frankly, I would have applied the "running engine" principle indefinitely had not I run into another problem that forced the issue.
My belief that the tarball included modules that weren't in the RPM version was based on postings here and seemed to be confirmed by the behavior I saw on installation. Instead of spending a lot of time building modules, I actually ended up deleting one. It's possible that in my efforts with the RPM version I had added everything I needed and it was some other factor that made the tarball work straight out of the box. I doubt that, though, because on migrating to the real machine the tarball version worked straight off there, too(aside from that little .PNG library issue). I hadn't done anything Perl module-wise to that machine in the interim. Overall though my point in posting was that this method worked pretty easily, nothing mysterious happened, and I had a running server in pretty short order. Pat - yes, I used URPMI, not RPM. -Carl -- cfseibert ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cfseibert's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9288 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49345 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
