I have SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 19705 (copied from the Status page) running on CentOS 5 (but that shouldn't make a difference).
It is possible that something might need to be enabled but I don't remember seeing or setting anything other than going to the path mentioned earlier. I was looking around trying to find a way to force a rescan and found that. (It was on the "Basic" page... D'oh.)
