Let me start by saying I am no expert! My 8GB CF card is split into a 6GB partition for the OS and a 2GB swap partition. My hard disk then has a single partition for /home.
I read somewhere about the number of writes a CF card can handle. It was something like 500K I think. Which even with a write every 5 mins means it will last almost 6 years. I would be interested to hear other peoples opinions on this because I am all for tweaking my system to improve it. I currently have noatime set on all my partitions to reduce journal writes. The idea for me was to have my HDD spun down most of the time - only spinning up when I need to access my music/photos/video. Hence everything else is on the CF card. -- SumnerBoy ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SumnerBoy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8924 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50696 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
