Update, I noticed some odd errors in the log about accessing a perl
directory, so CHMODded to to a+x
I can connect using VLC off a XP box, for a few seconds, then it stops,
and then if you look at the time elapsed bar on the localhost browser,
it jumps back, plays then jumps back. It jumps by the same amount that
it played the music on the remote machine.
