I think an easier solution would be to run squeezeslave
(http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeSlave).

Despite what it says in the Wiki, it is NOT a java app.  I use this
myself and it works quite well.  Especially since you are running your
server headless, squeezeslave makes more sense.  It runs in the
background and can be controlled via the web interface.  I modified my
start up script to kick off squeezeslave after squeezecenter is
started.  This way it will automatically be started up when SC is
restarted or the machine itself is restarted.
