That was it and it's up and running. Had a few glitches with the remote,
such as refusing to connect to players at one point and having one menu
that wouldn't highlight items until the player was re-chosen, but it's
working well otherwise.

I had wondered about the threaded option when configuring the perl
build the first time as SC would be threaded, but kept the default of
no anyway as most defaults were sensible enough. Thanks for the
pointers. As it's probably a requirement, a check in SC for a threaded
perl build and bailing with a suitable error if it's not would have
been nice :)
