media-sound/squeezecenter is currently at 7.3.0 in the official Portage tree. It's currently marked as unstable, though, so you'll need to add "media-sound/squeezecenter ~x86" to your "/etc/portage/package.keywords" file. I'll hopefully be getting that updated to 7.3.1 soon.
That version should install fine - raise a Gentoo bug on that if you have any trouble (bugs.gentoo.org) - I'm the proxy maintainer of that package and will receive the bug.
