Congrats on getting it all up and running. As 8.04 is the long-term support version, you should be just fine running that vs. 8.10. At least until 2011, if I recall correctly. :)
Be careful where you tuck the box away. As I've just discovered on my own server, you may need to get back at it with KVM in order to diagnose certain problems upon boot up. My box had gone for 208 days without having an fsck run (bad) and crapped out on me earlier this week. The kernel panicked and upon reboot would only go to a root shell to run a full fsck. No network services were started, so I had to haul the whole box up to my work desk in order to get a monitor and keyboard on it to fix the problems... -- whoosh *Server*: Ubuntu 8.04 Server on old assorted hardware, now running SC 7.3.2 - 24422 *Main Audio*: SB Duet > Audio Research LS2B mkII > Audio Research VT100 mkII > Soliloquy 5.3 *Work Audio*: SB Duet > Jolida SJ801 > NHT Super Zero's http://www.last.fm/user/megamucho ------------------------------------------------------------------------ whoosh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57502 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
