Congrats on getting it all up and running. As 8.04 is the long-term
support version, you should be just fine running that vs. 8.10. At
least until 2011, if I recall correctly. :)

Be careful where you tuck the box away. As I've just discovered on my
own server, you may need to get back at it with KVM in order to
diagnose certain problems upon boot up. My box had gone for 208 days
without having an fsck run (bad) and crapped out on me earlier this
week. The kernel panicked and upon reboot would only go to a root shell
to run a full fsck. No network services were started, so I had to haul
the whole box up to my work desk in order to get a monitor and keyboard
on it to fix the problems...
