Hi Rein,

I have the same set-up as you, in order for SC to see the external HDD
I had to add it into the Fstab file so that it auto-mounted on boot,
entries as such

#/dev/sdb1 - External HDD (Sea Disc)
#LABEL="ExternalHDD_150Gb"      /media/ExternalHDD_150Gb        vfat    
defaults,uid=ian,umask=000      0       0
#/dev/sdc1 - External HDD (Medion)
LABEL="ExternalHDD_250Gb"       /media/ExternalHDD_250Gb        vfat    
defaults,uid=ian,umask=000      0       0

This works for me
