As one who was running 7.4 beta on Ubuntu since January and has not had problems with the final release version, I would recommend going with 7.4.1, the latest official release. If that causes problems, uninstall 7.4.0 and install 7.3.3, which is available at the usual place: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/.
Note that if you have the new SB Radio you must be running 7.4.0 or later.
