I have posted this on the Vortexbox forum, but it's not as busy as here.
Sorry if that's bad form.

we have set up vortexbox on an old pc. All my music is on an external
usb hard drive that we have 'mounted' on the vortexbox.

I have deleted some files I no longer wanted on this drive, using
another windows machine over our network, but I am unable to delete the
folder that these files were in.

How can I delete this folder. Is it possible to alter the permissions
for all the folders/files on my external drive so I have full control
from my other pc.

UPDATE.

My ten year old son, who is far better with Linux than me, has
installed a GUI on our vortextbox. We have tried to set the permissions
on all files and folders on the external disk drive (right click >
Properties etc.) but on the other windows machine these still appear to
be read only. What are we doing wrong?

Thanks

JP
