hi epoch1970 thank for the suggestions. i did select the board because it is "all inclusive" type a well as low power consumption. and it does all i need. it has actually a good compromise in the performance, options and cost, just could be a bit less power hungry in the reality Atom has some sort of "castrated" power saving capabilities within CPU and N.Bridge on this model is far from the perfect chose for such setup. i hope newer model has more capabilities. in regards to PCI - this MB has no PCIe, just "old" PCI and there is nothing in it. i have only 2 internal HDDs and spin-down for one of them would be nice option - still need to monitor whether this happens after some time. system was in use for half a day and showed reasonable performance passive cooling on the NB was working fine (if i do not run X on it)
SSD ... hmm... is it a big saving in power and gain in speed for the system? -- AndreE ================================================================================ Duet: 2 Controllers and 4 Receivers Plan: +2 Receivers and + 1 Controller [quite positive after move to 7.4.1 and later to 7.4.2] Linux Intel Atom 330 based Server - [not completely configured yet] wired Ethernet to 1Gb Switch, than Router via DSL to the net... no WiFi at all ------------------------------------------------------------------------ AndreE's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30476 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75902 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
