I've identified the change in SBS 7.4 which was causing Squeezeslave to hang playing remote streams.
New 'Win32' (http://squeezeslave.googlecode.com/files/squeezeslave-0.9-133-win32-beta.zip) and 'OSX' (http://squeezeslave.googlecode.com/files/squeezeslave-0.9-133-osx-beta.tar.gz) r133 beta builds are available.
