This appears to have finally been fixed. I re-enabled it in
sources.list, and over multiple runs of "sudo aptitude update;apt-cache
policy squeezeboxserver", it consistently reports the same available
version (7.5.1~30831).

I discovered this when the Logitech support robot sent me email saying
"you haven't complained in 120 hours, so we assume you aren't very
angry, and we're automatically closing this support ticket unless you
reply today."

After I opened the ticket, they twice mailed me claiming to have fixed
it, when it was still broken; once they actually do fix it, they don't
bother to email. Yay Logitech!
