first I must say I don't have windows or use Ubuntu so I can only give
general advice ;)

You could try to permanently mount the windows share, then set the
music folder to the local mount point.

you can try this from the command line as root, something like

mount -t cifs //WHS/Music /local/dir

see 'man mount' & 'man mount.cifs' for the options.
