Hi all While Squeezeserver runs fine on Linux I was wondering if anybody hat got this to work in a SMALL Linux Virtual Machine.
What I want to do is create a small PORTABLE Linux Virtual Machine that will run of a USB stick under VMWARE. VMWARE PLAYER is FREE and easy to use for creating Virtual Machines That way I can run the application from several computers. The Music library would be on a Network drive which is accessible to the Virtual Machine. A 4 GB USB stick should be easily sufficient to have a small Linux VM (even with a graphical interface), a MySQL app (Squeezeserver) and network connections for acessing the network drive. As the Audio is streamed the audio device is not a problem as this would be played on the Squeeze devices. In theory the Linux machine wouldn't even need an Audio driver either -- it's just transmitting FLAC to the squueze devices. I'm hoping to use this with a small Netbook Laptop and the squeeze touch when I'm travelling. I don't want to install the squueze application on the laptop - just run the VM from the USB. I don't need to BOOT the USB either -- it will be a VIRTUAL machine. Anybody done this --and any probs.
