Yes for setting of static ip without having to turn of dchp. And also changing network settings without having to run the whole setup guide.
Changed bootup sound and splash screen ( as an experiment) You can change the wireless password too via ssh . If you dont have netstumbler or similar you can survey wifi via the command line .
