I have a problem with a gentoo world update where
logitechmediaserver-bin requires perl-5.12.4-r2 and just about
everything else wants perl-5.16.0. Is there a way around this, because
presently my update is blocked if I want to keep logitechmediaserver
running?

error message from emerge:

Conflict: 1 block (1 unsatisfied)
