I'm not using xfade either ,but very popular in some genre and a lot of
people actually use this.
But did you include replay gain support that is very important for some
users ?
I saw some gain value flash by when I debugged ,looks like it ?

Next I try to play some gapless albums this is also important .
If you plan a vider use case reconsider gapless for mp3 too the q is
inevitable so I better ask , suppose this is libmad vs lame or something
?
Do you use floating piont algorithms for mp3 ?
A thing that can be noticed on a hardware squeezebox is that the mp3
decoding is not as good as it can be in some rare cases you get
artefacts you never have if you decode it on a pc , not that I care that
much for mp3 but again some users do.
(The obvius workaround is to decode on the server which uses lame ) but
you may be aware of this already .
