Hi,
I've installed squeezeplug, and used it to install squeezelite player
and the squeezebox server on my RPi.
I'm using analgue output.
Using the web interface on the server I can get the player to play.
However the audio has a regular pop to it, about 5 times a second.
Sometimes it gets more regular, like 10 times a second. Sometimes it's
really bad like 20 times a second. That just sounds like a judder rather
than music!!!

I was wondering whether adjusting some buffer would help me, since I was
thinking maybe this is due to a buffer underrun.
I note there's a switch to do this:
-a <time>:<count> Specify ALSA buffer_time (ms) and period_count,
default 20:4

So I changed the value to 500:4
And that seems to have solved my problems.
My question is, what are the side effects of increasing this buffer, and
why is it set so low by default.

0.002 seconds is not a large buffer! Having increased it by an order of
magnitude I can't see any obvious side affects?

Great bit of software. Carry on the good work!
Owain
