That is really very good, but I think I may have found a more elegant
way to deal with the IP address issue.
Code:
--------------------
sudo yum install ahavi-tools
sudo systemctl enable ahavi-daemon
sudo systemctl start ahavi-daemon
Main PID: 1173 (avahi-daemon)
Status: "Server startup complete. Host name is wandboard.local. Local service
cookie is 1757485632."
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/avahi-daemon.service
├─1173 avahi-daemon: running [wandboard.local]
└─1181 avahi-daemon: chroot helper
[\code]
After doing, this I can use wandboard.local. on my Mac OS X machine and my
Windows 7 machine instead of hunting around for the IP address. It seem
necessary to have Apple's Bonjour service installed for this to work on
Windows, so you may need to install it from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl999 (install the Bonjour print services to get
the underlying Bonjour functionality).
My suggestion is to have the avahi daemon installed and configured to run as
a systemctl service automatically in the default image, since for many people
this will allow access to the Wandboard by hostname without further action on
their part (except for installing Bonjour for Windows users who don't have it
already).
Doing this also removes much of (all of?) the need to use fixed IP addresses
with CSOS on Wandboard. I am fine if the IP address moves from time to time,
since ahavi keeps up with this and lets me just use the hostname.
If someone wants to give this a try, it would good to get feedback on the
above steps are sufficient and whether it works without any issues or unwanted
side-effects.
