The Wandboard does not hang but it wont play anything else unitl it is rebooted (when playing > 192k files). It is better to use hw:CARD=imxspdif. With that option selected, the 352k8 file plays but the M-DAC constantly unlocks (dropouts). The 384k file plays at 191,991.
