As feared, problems are still occuring on both of my systems. On the
ubuntu system, I just had a dropout and this in the log:

So as I have a XRUN, what's the best parameter, or set of parameters, to
start trying to tune?
On the vortexbox I get occasional crackle rather than dropouts, and
nothing notable in the log.
All very puzzling.
