OK I figured it out. It seems there was some contention with my mpd
configuration when I specifiy a device. If I don't specify, then
squeezelite is fine. So just in case someone is
also using mpd...

I also grabbed a copy of squeezelite-i386-v1.2beta2 and it seems to be
