The downsampling is not caused by squeezelite. It is caused by the
raspberry pi that will down-sample everything to 48 kHz.

So you need to be able to modify the bcm2835-pcm.c which is a part of
the raspberry kernel and then rebuild the module. 
Then it is possible to stream up to 192 kHZ via HDMI.
