Hi Simon, as mentioned already somewhere else (but since it may be also helpful for other readers ...) your scenario seems to be similar to the one I had and led to development the SBNetIO plugin. The plugin is presented in detail on the ' SBNetIO homepage ' (http://code.google.com/p/sbnetio/). The plugin should support your case out of the box - you can also specify a "turn-on pause period" to pause playback while your amps start up and a "turn-off delay" to avoid shutdown of amps every time you pause playback for a reason.
