Well I am certain of the need for this player. In the last two weeks I have added a HiFiBerry DAC and mounted the RCA plugs on the case so that the Raspberry Pi is a single little box that works. I also stopped using the WiPi and tried a Netcomm Power N mini (http://www.netcommwireless.com/product/wifi/np910n) that works perfectly. I should have reported my success as you are putting all this work in and have little indication if anyone is using it. Also, I just loaded piCorePlayer 1.12d and it is working fine.
