Thanks guys. False alarm... Sorry.
When I change the format to nothing (so it's not set), it works. When I fired up R7 for the first time and pulled up the Squeezelite Player settings for the first time, it was set at 16 bit. That's what threw me off (making me think that I had to change to 32 bit). I should have switched it to no setting. I'll burn a fresh R7 image and try it again (to confirm whether it starts out at 16 bit rather than no setting).
