OK, LMS again..... History..... I started packaging LMS for Fedora before the advent of CSOS, (ie. not specifically for CSOS), after several months had gone by, with Logi seemingly unwilling to do anything about making it work (on what was then the current version of Fedora) due to a perl version bump.
With effect from today, I am removing the LMS packages from CSOS. Fedora ARM users (including CSOS users) will be more than welcome to install an extra standalone repo to get the "built and packaged by Clive" Fedora LMS packages. People who don't like what I'm doing and how I'm doing it, tracking the 7.8 branch in stable, (whether that be a 7.8.0, 7.8.1, or 7.8.202), and the 7.9 branch in testing, are more than welcome to install "official" Logi packages or build their own. There is a bigger picture here. There are many more users of the Fedora i686 and x86_64 packages, than ARM, possibly not surprising if what I'm told last night is right, that the Logi packages still have issues on Fedora x86_64. And before Michael asks what those issues are, I don't know and I don't really care. If Logi had given a damn about supporting Fedora users to start with, I never would have started packaging LMS. It was out of necessity, not want. I've not been paid for any of the time I've put in packaging or supporting. As far as I see it, primarily I make the packages for myself. If they are useful to others, that's great. I put in the time. I put in the effort. I pay for the repo. If you don't like what I'm doing, use the Logi packages or build your own. I will not have anyone trying to dictate terms over what I can and can't, should and shouldn't do, when it's my time and my dime! PS. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't dream of posting any "private" correspondence. But.... I'll say this publicly now. From this day forward, I reserve the right to post any future private correspondence on anything relating to CS or packaging LMS for Fedora, in public, without prior written approval from the author. If you have an issue with that, don't PM or email me. Either say what you have to say in public, or bite your tongue! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JackOfAll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3069 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99395 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
